Top cable wakeboard & wakeskate riders from the Asian region have arrived in Phuket, Thailand this week to compete in the first IWWF Asian Cable Wakeboard & Wakeskate Cup at Phuket Wake Park.
The management of Phuket Wake Park has expressed their excitement to welcome 38 riders from 11 countries: China, Chinese Taipei, Hongkong, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Korea, Kuwait, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand.
This inaugural invitational event is a major milestone for the sport, showing again the massive development of cable wakeboarding and wakeskating in the Asian region.
Â
We expect an epic battle on the water this weekend with big-name Asian riders taking each other on, names such as Yun Sanghyun (KOR), Guy Tanaka (SIN), Grim Narita (JPN) and Mark Griffin (PHI). There will also be excitement in the Women’s Cable Wakeboard event with the likes of 2014 Asian Beach Games Gold Medalist Yun Heeyun, 2014 Asian Beach Games Silver Medalist Duan Zhen Kun (CHN) and the 2015 IWWF Asian Cable Wakeboard Women’s Champion Megumi Tomabechi (JPN). Reigning Asian Men’s & Women’s Wakeskate Champions Obi Cembrano (PHI) and Susan Larsson (PHI) will battle other top cable wakeskaters again to retain their No. 1 Asian rankings.
Phuket Wake Park has prepared a variety of fringe activities such as dance performances, fireworks, night riding, DJ and dance party, and welcomes all riders, family members, cable wakeboarding and wakeskating enthusiasts to join the big event this weekend!
Also included is the Phuket Cable Wakeboard Open with the youngest entry aged 7.
